The Tiger 10K has three different distances to offer participants. The event has a 10K, 5K and 1 Mile Kids Run. Both the 10K and 5K are open to runners, joggers and walkers. The 1 Mile Kids Run is for children ages 3-12.
10K + 5K
The start line for the 10K and 5K course will be on South Stadium Dr. near LSU Stadium’s new South end zone addition. Runners will be corralled according to expected finish times with the fastest runners in the front and walkers in the back. Both the 5K and 10K races will start at 8:00am in a wave start fashion. 150-200 runners will be allowed to start approximately every 30 seconds.
10K and 5K runners will proceed East on South Stadium Dr. Where East Parker Drive, meets West Lakeshore Drive, the 5K runners will turn left and run down “Sorority Row” while the 10K runners will continue straight towards Stanford Ave.
The remaining portion of the 5K course will be divided by cones to keep 5K runners and 10K runners in separate lanes, allowing for the fast 10K runners to be able to run unimpeded through the course.
All Runners will see Dalrymple Dr., the LSU Law Center, the Student Union and Parade Grounds, the Bell Tower, Campus Quad, and the Indian Mounds. Runners will continue down Field House Drive and turn right onto South Stadium where they will cross the finish line and slap the WIN bar.
After the 5K runners split off, the 10K runners will turn North on Stanford Ave., and pass Baton Rouge Beach for the first time on the way out and turn left onto Hyacinth Ave. This is a beautiful section of town with many wonderful oak trees and scenic views of the lake and LSU Campus across it. A quick loop around East Lakeshore Dr. from Hyacinth Ave. will put runners back going South on Stanford Ave. A right turn onto South Lakeshore Dr. gives more views of the lakes and some stunning southern homefronts before passing Baton Rouge Beach a second time and turning West on West Lakeshore Dr.
10K Runners will rejoin the 5K course at West Lakeshore Dr. and follow the 5K course towards the finish. The congested area of the course on “Sorority Row” will be coned to allow us to keep 5K runners and 10K runners in separate lanes, allowing for the fast 10K runners to run unimpeded through the course.
Only children ages 3-12 are allowed to register for the 1 Mile Kids Run. Parents are allowed to run with their children, but are encouraged to let their little ones accomplish the race on their own. The course will be monitored and supervised closely by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
Each registered child will received an “Athlete” race bib and a “Parent” race bib. The Parent bib should be worn by the parent or guardian. If a parent has multiple kids participating, they should wear ALL of their Parent bibs. If a parent is planning to run with their child, they should still wear the Parent bib. In addition, the back of the Kid’s bib should be filled out with all of the parent/guardian’s information.
Parents can watch their kids start and finish the race at the Start/Finish Line located on South Stadium Dr. Once your child finishes the race, you can claim them in the checkout area.
There will be FIVE checkout areas located in the finish chute past the finish line. Children will be placed into one of the five checkout areas based on the LAST DIGIT on their bib.
Only race personnel and kids participating in the race will be allowed in the finish chute and checkout areas.
The north side of the finish chute will have a PARENT CHECKOUT area. Once you see that your child has been placed in a checkout area you can enter the aisle from the West side.
Show your bib to the attendant and claim your child. If you have multiple children in different waves, you will need to exit the area and re-enter once your next child is ready to be checked out.
If you do not have the bib that matches your kid’s bib, the attendant will look to verify the information you wrote on the back of the bib with your photo ID. If you can’t produce a photo ID or did not complete the information on the back of the bib, the attendant will direct you to one of our police partners who will work with you and the child to turn over custody.
Please wear your bib and complete the information on the back of the bib to avoid any inconvenience on race day.
